About Me

My name is Coleen Voeltz.  I've had several jobs in my 50+ years, but since retiring from a career with Detroit Lakes Public Schools, I decided to do something to ease owners’ stress when needing to be away from their pets, something I often struggled with. My inspiration comes from my sister Paula who has just retired from owning and operating a home-style pet-boarding business for over 20 years. I learned so much working with her guests!  Since 2019 I’ve been offering home visits for cats and dogs, and it’s been wonderful growing relationships. After 6 years of walking pups in blizzards, rain, and relentless mosquitoes and deerflies, I decided  to reframe my business to focus more on cat care!  I still love dogs, and if you see me out walking one or two, it’s because I continue to care for the families’ pups that have become such an important part of my life.

Why Casual Care

A kennel setting is not always the best fit for your cat.  Be sure to consider the age and health of your cat, and how he or she may handle staying in an unfamiliar location with other animals. My guess is HOME is a great fit for many families when we can make it work.

While a neighbor or family member is often a good choice, there may be times when you prefer to have pet care lined up independently.

Making sure your cats get the attention, nutrition, and a clean litter box can be difficult when you want to get away for a while.  A cat on scheduled medication can be trying as well, but please know that I am comfortable giving oral medications, eye drops and insulin injections.

My Vision

My vision for Casual Care Pet Care is simply to improve the quality of life for your pet by offering in-home visits, including feeding, litter box maintenance, play-time and interactive toy introduction, and of course plenty of attention (if that's what they want!). In the meantime, you benefit as well knowing they are safe and sound while you are away. Casual Care Pet Care is a low-key pet-sitting service...meaning I will purposely not fill my schedule to capacity.  When I visit your pets, I don't want to be rushed--your pet will receive quality time and quality care.
